Types of Massage Offered
Swedish Massage uses long, gliding strokes and gentle-to-medium pressure to increase circulation and induce relaxation. It will help to decrease muscle toxins and improve flexibility while easing tension.
Deep Tissue Massage is a type of massage aimed at the deeper tissue structures of the muscle and connective tissue. Deep tissue massage uses many of the same movements and techniques as Swedish massage, but the pressure will generally be more intense. Because the therapist works to release chronic muscle tension or knots, it is also a more focused type of massage.
Acupressure is an ancient healing art using the fingers to gradually press key healing points along the body's meridians which stimulate the body's natural self-curative abilities.
Shiatsu Massage uses acupressure techniques which are applied with hands, thumbs, elbows and knees in a continuous rhythmic sequence. Shiatsu is done on a low massage table or on the floor with the client fully clothed. No oil is used. The purpose is to open the channels of energy and blood circulation to nourish the internal organs, glands, muscles, nerves, and vital centers of the body.
Myofascial Release works with the body's fascia, the connective tissue which can hold chronic, painful and exhausting stress and tension. At the end of this massage, your neck and shoulders will be relaxed and you will breath more deeply, with less effort.
Craniosacral Therapy is a calming, gentle, subtle bodywork that uses light touch to enhance the body's natural healing processes and relieve chronic pain patterns and dysfunction. It works with the body instead of forcefully imposing changes upon it. This technique is increasingly used as a preventative health measure because of its ability to bolster resistance to disease and sustain overall good health as well as increase energy, enhance sleep patterns and decrease incidences of sickness.
Spa add on student therapist and instructor will decide which of the following to incorporate into a full relaxing massage: hot stone, cold stone, hot towels, salt scrub, or aromatherapy.
Reflexology is the application of pressure to areas on the feet, hand, and/or ears that correspond to organs and systems of the body. This is a gentle modality that allows the body to achieve balance and is a great stress and pain reliever.
Thai massage aims to harmonize the body by loosening energy blockages. The therapist works on the major meridians SEN (energy lines), which run throughout the body. Stretching of the joints, tendons and muscles increases mobility, blood circulation and flexibility.
After Thai massage you will feel noticeably more loose and relaxed as well as energized.
Please wear loose comfortable clothing, as the Thai massage will be performed on a mat on the floor.
