The Massage in Schools Program (MISP) MISP is a nonprofit program, in 35 countries, that is designed to bring nurturing touch to children ages 2 - 12. Instructors work in family homes, schools, youth groups, churches and early childhood programs and more!
The program teaches children consent, boundaries, respect for themselves and others, lowers stress levels, and improves concentration which in turn facilitates learning and a peaceful environment. MISP is a nationally recognized bullying reduction strategy.
The training costs $325 and includes two days of intensive training of an internationally approved curriculum, a one year membership to MISA-USA, MISP training manual, the book “Touch in Schools”, refreshments and the ongoing support of the trainer. MISP is an approved provider through the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork.
Massage therapist qualify for 14 continuing education credit hours through the NCBTMB
Upon successful completion of the course, the participant is given the MISP Instructor Certificate which allows the implementation of the copyrighted MISP program including peer massage, story massage and active learning within classrooms, preschools/child care, youth organizations and with children and their parents.
